Treat the connections as project scope

The furnace or air handler supplies the blower used during cooling. The indoor coil sits in that air path, connects by refrigerant piping to the outdoor unit, and produces condensate. Controls call for heating, cooling and fan operation. A coordinated project should describe each component and the work between them.

What is selected together

The equipment schedule should list the furnace or air handler, indoor coil, outdoor AC or heat pump, and thermostat or control. The AHRI reference number or certificate identifies the certified indoor/outdoor cooling combination. The blower and existing ducts then determine whether the selected system can move its required airflow.

Identify shared work

A combined installation may affect the sheet-metal transition, filter arrangement, drain, venting, electrical service, refrigerant route and equipment access. The relevant items vary by house. Put each one in the proposal so a single total does not hide an unresolved connection.

Compare sequencing honestly

When one side is replaced first, the proposal identifies the retained component and the compatibility assumption that supports it. A later project may revisit the coil, transition, refrigerant circuit, controls or startup work. Showing those dependencies does not make combined replacement automatically correct; it makes the now-versus-later tradeoff visible.
